Ingredients in Pineapple Smoothie

Only a few ingredients, mostly fruits, make up this nutritious pineapple smoothie. Juices and sweeteners are not added. Here’s what you need to make this creamy puree:

  • Frozen pineapple: Get that perfectly icy texture by using frozen pineapple. Although you can use fresh, we like to use that for snacks. Frozen pineapple is easy to find and store for whenever you have a smoothie craving.
  • Banana: The banana enhances the sweetness and creates a creamy texture.
  • Water & Milk: Just the right amount of creaminess is produced by mixing water and milk. Any kind of milk, whether dairy or vegan (more on that later), may be used.
  • Ice: Ice makes the perfect frothy texture.
  • Fresh lime juice: The flavors are enhanced by the citrus! You can also use freshly squeezed lemon juice.

Amp Up the Protein

Mostly fruit makes up this smoothie with pineapple. If you’re looking for a smoothie that’s packed with protein, here are some ideas:

  • Greek yogurt: Yogurt adds quite a bit of protein and probiotics for a healthy gut. To taste, try blending in ¼ cup to ½ cup. A few drops of water can be added if necessary to blend it.
  • Cashew butter. The cashew flavor goes well with pineapple. Use about 1 tablespoon, or 2 tablespoons for a stronger flavor. Keep in mind this addition will also dull the color a bit.
  • Protein powder: Of course, you can also add some protein powder! Greek yogurt is by far the most flavorful option.

How to Make It Plant-based / Vegan!

By substituting your preferred non-dairy milk for the dairy milk, you can turn this pineapple smoothie into a vegan smoothie. Here are the types of plant-based milk we like to use:

  • Oat milk: It’s perfect for smoothies because it has a sweet flavor and a smooth, creamy texture.
  • Almond milk: Although it has a texture that is somewhat closer to water, it is well-liked and simple to locate.
  • Coconut milk: It adds a strong coconut flavor and is extremely thick (it would be particularly tasty here!).

Soy milk: We use it less than the other three; it has a nice, sweet flavor and a thick consistency.

Can You Store Pineapple Smoothie?

Best enjoyed right away, this smoothie. But you can store this pineapple smoothie for about 1 day refrigerated. It should be kept in an airtight container or a mason jar with the lid on. It could split, and that’s totally normal! You only need to shake it to get going.

More Flavor Variations!

Want to add some variety to your smoothie with pineapple? Here are a few more flavor ideas to mix in:

  • Coconut. Use coconut milk, or add a few pieces of coconut (or toasted coconut) to the mixture. It will taste like a piña colada!
  • Vanilla. Add complexity with 1/4 to 1/32 teaspoon vanilla.
  • Mint or basil. For an herbaceous twist, incorporate a few fresh basil or mint leaves.
  • Mango or peach. Frozen pineapple can be substituted for 1 cup of frozen mangos or peaches.
