They can be crushed into the consistency of breadcrumbs by placing them in a ziplock bag and using a meat tenderizer to break them down. As an alternative, you can blend them in a food processor or blender.
  • Parmesan cheese– increases the flavor of the batter used to fry the chicken.
  • Garlic and onion powder– Adds extra flavor.
  • Oil– To deep fry the chicken, use any neutral oil. Pick oils with a high smoke point when you’re frying or deep-frying. Excellent alternatives include peanut oil, avocado oil, and safflower oil.

How Do You Make Low Carb Fried Chicken?

  1. Sprinkle salt and pepper on the chicken after patting it dry. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and cream. Combine the parmesan cheese, almond flour, garlic powder, and onion powder in a separate bowl with the keto bread crumbs.
  2. Each piece of chicken should be coated by first dipping it in the egg/cream mixture, followed by the breadcrumb mixture. Till the chicken is completely covered, repeat the procedure.
  3. A deep pot or pan should be filled with ½ inch of oil. When the oil is hot, add the chicken pieces and cook until the chicken is golden brown and 165°C inside.

Storing, Freezing, and Reheating Almond Flour Fried Chicken

  • To store: For up to five days, leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator.
  • To freeze: Fried chicken can be frozen for up to 6 months after it has cooled down and been placed in a ziplock bag.
  • Reheating: Unless you want a soggy crust, avoid microwaving the chicken. It’s best to reheat in a preheated oven or stovetop. An air fryer can also be used.

Fried chicken is not the healthiest food option available, as implied by the word “fried” in its name. However, you can easily make this recipe healthier with a few tweaks-

  • Substitute chicken breast pieces for the thighs and drumsticks.

  • Replace the heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and unsweetened coconut milk.
